Abbiamo scelto di dedicare una sezione della mostra ad una retrospettiva fotografica tramite i photoblogs, sulla grande nazione cinese vista da orientali e da occidentali a confronto: una giovane fotografa cinese (Moko Chen), un reporter (Tommy Tan) e tre “stranieri” (Michael Dausch, Brad Ferguson, Andrew Doro):

About Me:
I came out around Baltimore in 1982, moved midwest to live in St. Louis, then spent high school in the woods of Potomac, MD. I graduated from Davidson College where I unlearned a lot, mojored in religion and unofficially minored in music, a major part of my life. I am currently living in the high-rise and economic sprawl known as Shenzhen, China, working as an English teacher and developing as a photographer and human being.

About My Photography:
I have been taking pictures since January of 2004. Since then, photography has assumed great importance in my life as a channel through which I can visually document and express things that I cannot verbally, physically, or musically.

About The Technology:
I use Microsoft Frontpage to create this site and a Canon G5 or Canon EOS 20D with a 17-85mm EFS lens. Thanks to Tim Kelley of TimKelley.net for helping me get it up and running.

I grew up in New York City. I recently graduated from Yale University where I studied psychology and philosophy.

Now I live in Wuhan, China and teach English at Wuhan University. I am 23 years old.

Moko:

STATEMENT
From China to Canada, from words to pictures, I never stop trying to find and express myself. Sometimes there's so much to express; the past, the dream, the passion; and sometimes it ends before I can find a single word or image to tell properly who I am.
So I give up.

Photography to me is a method of discovering or concealing reality, enlarging or reducing truth, realizing or destroying imagination.

After achieving my bachelor degree of economics, which has had no connection with my career ever since, I finally learned that illusion is also a kind of real existence, and that there are always some things left behind, like dregs in a coffee cup. That's all I have ever wanted to keep as the sediment of life. So I began to look at this world through my lens. Image is such a perfect language for recording and recurrence, and besides, it communicates more than any language.

I'd hoped to show an objective world around me and wished to be a child who has no opinion, no preconception, and no habit while shooting. But eventually I understood that the real pleasure of being a photographer is to find the reflection of my own feelings in angle, color and composition. In this way, I see me, I see my heart.

In a word, I'm a freelance writer and photographer from China. Editor of magazine was long the title for my position. At 25, I escaped from my country for love and will have to miss the land forever, the rest of my life.

Freelance writer and photographer. Articles and pictures were published on BAZAAR, GRACE, LOVE, CITYGIRL, TRENDS HEALTH and so on in China.

My name is Tommy Tan, born in Taipei in 1971. Graduated for Journalism Department of Sheffield University in England in 2003, then I immigrated Beijing for a new life.
From 1993 to 2001, I've worked as a military officer in Taiwan's army. Now I work as freelance writer for local magazine.
